I graduated in 2003 with a LLB (Hons) in Law, after completing my LPC in Birmingham I went on to train as a Solicitor in Stratford upon Avon, qualifying in January 2006 and then going on to become a partner. I moved to the Southeast in 2013 and headed up a team in Surrey, where I practised for two years before returning to the Midlands to a firm in the Worcestershire area. I joined Wright Hassall LLP as a Partner within the team in July 2018, where I have continued to represent clients in all aspects of family law matters. I have over 17 years of experience working and advising on all areas which include complex financial disputes in a wide range of cases from high net worth businesses, substantial pensions, cases with significant pre-marital assets and generational farming cases. I also advise clients in matters relating to child arrangements, pre and postnuptial agreements and injunctions. I am an Advanced Family Law Panel Member specialising in children and injunction matters. I have a friendly and pragmatic approach which puts my clients at ease in what is often a stressful and difficult time. I have a wealth of experience in dealing with divorce cases from the Asian community and being Asian myself, I have an excellent understanding of the culture. I understand that often due to the community it is important that the matter is dealt with sensitively. I am fluent in Punjabi, which enables me to advise those who are not able to speak English.I understand that Asian divorces are often not straightforward, for example, there is often mixed funding to purchase properties with extended families without any legal documents setting out any beneficial interests and if the marriage breaks down, they make seek a return of the money which they have contributed. There may be assets or bank accounts oversees which may need to be taken into consideration. Often there are issues when a Dowry has been paid by one party.I am a committed member of Resolution which encourages the settlement of issues in a constructive and non-confrontational way, achieving the best possible outcomes for my clients according to their individual case and needs. I always try to avoid technical terminology and use plain English when discussing matters with clients. I am also a qualified family mediator with Family Mediation Association (FMA).
