Dr. Dale Edgar is Founder of Sail Science, LLC, a biotech research consulting and science education organization in St. Augustine, FL. Dr. Edgar recently retired as Senior Vice President, Discovery Research at Neumora Therapeutics (Cambridge/Watertown, MA). Dr. Edgar joined Neumora in connection with Neumora's acquisition of the company he co-founded Alairion Inc., a start-up biotech focused on the discovery and development of novel treatments for sleep disorders and sleep-related comorbidity. Dr. Edgar was formerly an Eli Lilly & Company Distinguished Research Fellow for Science and Technology Partnerships, responsible for strategy and governance of public-private partnerships & consortia, post-doctoral training, and academic affairs at Eli Lilly and Company. Dr. Edgar also served as Chief Scientific Leader of Lilly’s Discovery Sleep Research program (DSR). His global multidisciplinary drug hunting team developed novel methods for phenotypic assessment of NMEs and target engagement, advanced the clinical translation of sEEG biomarkers and modeling, and delivered numerous compounds from inception to the clinic. Prior to joining Lilly, Dr. Edgar was Co-Founder, Vice President and the Chief Science & Technology Officer of Hypnion Inc (Lexington, MA) where he was responsible for preclinical and clinical research. Lilly acquired Hypnion in April 2007. Prior to founding Hypnion in 2000, Dr. Edgar was Associate Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and Director of the Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology Laboratory at the Stanford University School of Medicine. While at Stanford, Dr. Edgar invented drug discovery technologies that formed the founding platform technology for Hypnion, have been used extensively to facilitate Neuroscience drug discovery at Lilly, and facilitate drug discovery at Alairion Inc.Dr. Edgar received his Masters degree in Biology from San Jose State University while a Biomedical Research Graduate Fellow at the NASA-Ames Research Center, and then received his doctorate in Biology/Physiology from the University of California. He received post-doctoral training under Prof. William C.
