Working for CGI where I was contracted to EVRAZ steel.Taking care of over 300 desktop computers and dozens of laptops on site at the Regina location, it was a 24 hour 365 day a year operation. The IT team consisted of a large level one help desk force and I was a level 2 support professional. Working closely beside the level 3 IT team whom I had the privilege of learning from. My duties consisted of supporting hundreds of staff at the Regina EVRAZ location, with dozens of in house developed applications and 300 workstations, laptops and printers in the steel smelting and rolling production lines. I'd also share in the on-call rotation.Supporting land line, handheld devices, server room, backups, I was also responsible for migrating workstations from Windows XP to Windows 7.One of my projects was migrating the companies imaging deployment software and standardizing at each of the EVRAZ steel North American locations. After building and configuring the software, I would remotely deploy the software and educate the on-site IT staff on its operation.I would report to CGI on a monthly basis but otherwise work directly at EVRAZ steel in Regina Saskatchewan.

At Hypor Genetics, a Hendrix Genetics corporation, I was the IT support Technician for the Western Canadian operations. Daily duties would include fixing computers, laptops, handheld devices and printers. One of my achievements was the purchase, design and implementation of server infrastructure out in the remote swine barn's locations. This enabled data to be stored locally for the end users, instead of depending on unreliable data communication systems.Reporting directly to the HR manager and working directly with the Hendrix genetics IT team based in the Netherlands, I was responsible for supporting the main office and remote sites. This was completed mostly remotely, but at times I was also required to travel to each remote site.When organizing Microsoft Excel classes for the Hypor office team, I was responsible for assisting the instructor by setting up the boardroom with the required computers and monitors.

PC place was my entry into the IT field and I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to work and learn from their team. They had a large clientele base in Regina and surrounding areas, which included contracts with businesses such as legal firms and dental offices. My daily duties varied and included deploying brand new workstations and servers, monitoring customer support software and running network cabling through new offices.While completing a Dell service contract through Unisys Canada, I was required to travel to remote locations, where I would complete tasks such as disassembling laptops or replacing server hard drive components.My greatest achievement in this role was winning Dells’ 2009 best customer satisfaction award for Unisys Canada.
