Electrical EngineerPurdy Contracts Limited Jun 2016 - Jun 2018London Area, United KingdomOnce completing my electrical apprenticeship i continued with Purdy contracts as an electrical engineer for a period of time. Working with Purdy as and engineer was a great way to learn time keeping and time management based on the amount of work that had to be done. We worked with various different clients over this period of time, such as councils, housing associations and some small developers, i gained a lot of experience with the electrical industry as each client has there own specific needs, but until you start working for them, you would never know. While working for the above type of clients the following types of works had to be carried out. Part or full rewires, Electrical upgrades of properties, EICR to check the condition of the electrics, Day to day maintenance works, 24 hour call out works, Economy 7 heating upgrades, Consumer unit upgrade and relocations, New kitchen designs and layout drawing being following, New bathroom designs being followed out. All works that had been undertaken always would have a certificate sent to the client after showing that the works have been completed to a decent and high electrical standard which would of meet the BS7671 electrical regulations at the times of works. -
Apprentice ElectricianPurdy Contracts Limited Sep 2012 - Jun 2016London Area, United KingdomStarting from the bottom as an apprentice carrying out the simple tasks such as passing materials and tools to get an understanding for what each tool does what and why we used each materials for that particular job. Moving on from the basics i was personally asked to start with more advanced electrical works such as wiring parts of lighting circuits and socket power circuits, doing these type of works then help to understand in further detail why certain size cables are used in some areas of the house and not others. Once i had an understanding of how the wiring was carried out throughout a property, we then moved onto learning how to carry out fault finding on issues within properties such as tripping electrics. Knowing how an a property should be wired was a massive help with the fault finding as you could then break a job down in your head and make into small bits helping with finding issues a lot quicker. Once i had a good understanding with fault finding on issues within properties we then moved on to carrying out EICR ( Electrical Inspection Condition Report ) Also carrying out Installation certificates and Part P certificates for more intrusive works within peoples homes and rental properties. The testing works carried out where for housing associations and councils and some private residence.
