Ethanol technologist, with over 30 years of international experience in process technology development and plant design, construction, commissioning and startup and operations in petrochemical and renewable fuels industries. Developments include advanced enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation, distillation and separation processes commercially applied in corn, wheat, barley-based dry-mill fuel ethanol facilities, as well as starch slurry, cassava, cane sugar and molasses plants with production capacities of up to 100 million gallons per year. Extensive experience in lignocellulosic feedstock based fuels and chemicals projects including biomass pretreatment, GMO propagation and fermentation and nutrient management systems, enzyme production, product recovery and residual management systems.Served on U.S. Department of Energy review panels and committees relating to biomass-based feedstocks, processes and technologies. Has published and presented on numerous ethanol-related subjects, including Production of Ethanol from Corn and Sugarcane, Alternative Feedstocks for Ethanol Production, Dryhouse Technologies and DDGS production. Additionally, speaks annually at various U.S. and international renewable fuels and chemical related conferences and schools. Specialties: Process simulation modeling of integrated ethanol production facilities and the application of modeling in trouble shooting, capacity expansion and technology upgrades existing plants.
