From the early 70's to 1999 I was a property manager in Chicago, Pennsylvania, and California. At night and on weekends I performed at local theatres, and wrote many plays, ten of which have been produced. In 1990 I returned to school in Chicago for acting and found my calling. I achieved my SAG card in 1994 and my Equity card in 2004. At present I'm working on a play about the life of WC Fields that I hope to tour. Film projects have included writing the screenplay and playing the lead in The Lonely Detective, directed by Wolfgang Hastert; directed the short film Wondering If... by Michael Thomas Tower and starring Rosina Reynolds. I'll be directing the full length feature Paper Angels by Ellen Pickering and produced by L and N productions in September of 2012 (now casting).Jamie and I hope to earn enough from the Fields project to enjoy a happy, productive, and traveling retirement. We plan to tour in an RV and hit as many National Parks that will fit into the rest of our lives. Another goal is to continue to seek work in Regional Theatres, and film work whenever and wherever I can get it.Specialties: Acting, playwriting, acting coach, directing.

Jan 2011 - PresentGreater San Diego Area~~Most recent Production: North Coast Repertory Theatre Nov 12 & 13, 2012.With a license from the Fields Family, I'm working on touring a show based on the later years of W.C. Fields. As of 10/1/12 we just completed a successful four-week run at the 10th Avenue Theatre in San Diego. While reviewers and critics felt the play dark, audiences left the theatre very moved by the experience of seeing and learning about a man who was more than just a one-liner. It was a rewarding experience. Now it's on to North Coast Rep for a short November run - then hopefully Mesa, AZ and then Los Angeles.

We hope to call the cast and crew back together in December 2011 to reshoot some scenes and to complete the balance. A higher level of key management professions is being added, and fundraising will soon begin for the post production work. Sadly two wonderful people from this production passed away and completing this version is impossible. We miss Glynn Bedington and Federico Moramarco very much.

It became obvious quickly - with only 49 seats - that it couldn't be run as a standard business and Kim Bieda wrote the 501(c)(3) non-profit application and we were approved a short time later. San Diego Theatre Scene, Inc. is the non-profit umbrella under which Compass Theatre operates.We've had our ups and downs - wonderful successes and crushing failures. That's show biz I guess.
