The Big W sites are located in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Warwick.The key responsibilities are firstly to develop both short and long term strategies to ensure we meet the needs of our key partners both internal and external whilst continuing to grow the business. Secondly to ensure the supply chain functions meet business needs by focusing on continuous improvement in safety, capability and cost reduction. Ensure that chain of responsibility legislative requirements are adhered to. Manage service delivery costs within agreed budgets, achieving agreed service levels to stores. Implement people leadership strategies to facilitate ongoing development of the business through performance management, succession management and learning and development. Larapinta

This role is responsible for 3 Woolworths sites and 1 3PL site with 9 direct reports. The sites are: Larapinta - The biggest distribution centre in Australia, operating 24/7 servicing 250 stores and employing 1500 associates. Townsville - Primarily a produce DC servicing 43 stores. Acacia Ridge - Primarily a cross docking facility.My key responsibilities are to ensure the logistics functions meet business needs by focusing on continuous improvement in safety, capability and cost reduction. This role is responsible for the transport of goods to 250 Woolworths sites and 426 BWS / Dan Murphy's sites. The role oversees 14 contract carriers moving over 56 000 pallets a week from Weipa to Coffs Harbour. The role is also responsible for an internal fleet consisting of 158 trailers / hard body trucks.My key responsibilities are to manage the day to day transport activities at Larapinta. Plan, organise and control operational activities according to daily customer demand in order to balance the highest sustainable level of service to stores with asset utilisation and transport costs. To forecast transport operations to support business planning and control expenditure of the operating budgets to ensure effective provision of ongoing service to store at the least cost. Ensure all carriers are complying with COR regulations.To be successful it is imperative that we balance the needs of all our key stake holders, (DC Operations, Store Teams and Carriers) to achieve the best possible outcome for the business.

This role is responsible for the distribution of general merchandise stock to 61 Big W sites across Australia with 7 direct reports. The site picked 23 million cartons a year (50% sourced from oversees) and despatched stock Australia-wide, and was also responsible for unpacking, booking and transporting of stock to the distribution centre from the port.My key responsibilities were to coordinate all operational activities associated with inbound and outbound operations to achieve operational goals, metrics and budgets. Develop and execute plans to meet distribution centre and business strategy objectives. Facilitate communication and feedback flow between the product vendors, distribution centre, and the stores/customers to identify opportunities for process and metrics improvements. Work collaboratively across the supply chain to identify and manage business process improvement opportunities.To be successful, it's imperative that we develop and implement strategies and policies that improve employee engagement, develop a culture of continuous improvement and maintain strong relationships with all key stakeholders and unions connected with the business.

This role is responsible for 14 stores with annual sales of over $280 million with 10 direct reports. All stock was received via train with a 5 day lead time, so planning was critical to ensuring adequate stock, and the remote location required RM to take on additional tasks including new store site visits during construction and liaising with local councils about complaints and potential sites. My key responsibilities were to provide leadership to the region, ensuring sales are maximised, losses/expenses are minimised and a climate of individual growth and development is fostered. Manage safety, health and environment responsibilities, in line with government legislation, codes and standards and organisational management systems. Ensure volume and mix of merchandise available in the region will maximise sales and meet customer demand. Conduct regular store visits with Area Managers and Store Managers, provide coaching and ensure standards of service, presentation, stock levels and pricing are being met.The time I was in WA was during the height of the mining boom with unemployment rates as low as 2%. To be successful during this period required a strong focus on recruitment and engagement at all levels, we had to make Big W the employer of choice without impacting our customers.
