The role of the President, BGANZ Council is to lead BGANZ in its endeavours to achieve its objects and undertake its functions. Mackay Regional Botanic Garden

• Curate and plan procurement of the MRBG Living Collection in accordance with the MRBG Master Plan 2010 and strategies in line with the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC).• Oversee any MRBG Contracts including the assessment of contractor payment claims and contractual responsibilities.• Participate in local community based organisations that have an identified role and responsibility within the operations of the MRBG.• Develop policy statements and local laws that are necessary for the establishment, maintenance, security and development of the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens (MRBG) in accordance with Council policy and practices.• Establishment of research programs that promote and compliment the materials displayed within the MRBG, and that are considered potentially significant to the future of horticulture development of the regions flora within the horticulture industry.• Establish recording and vouchering systems to international standard, and maintain continuously for the requirements of Botanical Garden status.• Oversee quality construction, development and display of landscape elements and industry practices that provide for public enjoyment of the MRBG within a safe, diverse and stimulating environment. • The maintenance of the MRBG through recognised industry practices to provide a well presented managed environment that reflects the adopted Master Plan development for the site.• Participate in local community based organisations that have an identified role and responsibility within the operations of the MRBG.
