As Chief Ranger, I am the head supervisor over all park maintenance operations. This includes grounds and building maintenance, housekeeping,natural resource management, and customer service responsibilities.

Upon graduation from Virginia Tech, I completed my second summer as a PRCDP Intern at Staunton River State Park. In addition to my first summer as an intern and being a maintenance technician, my duties were: Maintenance Duties: Trail reconstruction, trail maintenance, pool systems operation, carpentry, land grading, water systems maintenance, equipment operation, small engine repair, OSHA/site safety, mower maintenance, electrical repair, staff supervision. Supervised crews of seasonal workers on various construction projects and grounds maintenance operations.Office: Data entry, monthly reports, bank deposit preparation, budget management, inventory control, merchandising. Environmental Education and Outreach: Led interpretive canoe trips, participated in park outreach events to the community.

I continued my tenure at Claytor Lake State Park in the Maintenance Department immediately after my ranger internship ended at the same location. My duties include, ,mower operations, grounds maintenance, vehicle maintenance, vehicle inspections, chainsaw operations, small engine maintenance, painting, basic construction, building maintenance, cabin cleaning, snow removal, new employee training, sign maintenance, basic plumbing and heating, power tool operation, light to medium duty equipment operation, and waste management. Supervised small teams of wage employees to complete daily tasks. Worked in teams as well as under little to no supervision.

I worked equally in each sector of Claytor Lake State Park as a first season intern (Maintenance, Contact Station, Beach Concessions, Gas Dock, Interpretation). The intern program is designed to provide the training and experience needed to be a chief ranger over the course of two to three summers within the Virginia State Parks System. Training received: Blood borne pathogens safety, FOCUS training.Duties: Maintenance: Same as maintenance technician stated earlier.Contact Station: Cash management, answered incoming calls, reservation management (Reserve America), distribute fliers, served as first contact to park guests, worked mainly alone in the contact station.Beach Concessions/Gas Dock: Food prep and service, customer service, cash management, extensive use of electronic cash register, gas pump operations, watercraft procedures.Interpretation: Created and led environmental interpretation programs, provided public outreach, assisted in the learning of children and adults, handled live animals and fish, fish feeding, fish collection, managed and maintained large fish tank with native fish, Microsoft office software experience, oral communication with children and adults.Worked in varying climactic conditions and served as crew leader on occasion while working maintenance and concessions.

I worked specifically in the weight room in McComas Hall Fitness Center. I ensured safety of patrons, offered assistance with weight lifting through being a spotter and offering advice. I enforced rules of the weight room and helped set up for special events.

I worked part-time during school years and summers of 2010 and 2011.Office Duties: Copying, scanning, creating ledgers, word processing, document organization, created spreadsheets, file management, drafting and sending emails, data entry. Gained experience with Microsoft office software (mainly excel and word) and deltek costpoint accounting software. Helped train new interns in different sectors of the company.During the summer of 2011 in addition to office duties I assisted the logistics specialist in transferring equipment between warehouses. My duties included: hauling equipment, pulling medium to large trailers, building maintenance, warehouse organization, heavy lifting.
