In the Applied Studies Mentorship program I had the opportunity to collaborate with a team of mentors to offer guidance and support to new interns of the Army Learning Support Centre, with the goal of leading them to develop successful workplace skills.

As a part of the Applied Studies Internship with NBCC, I participated in a full-time workplace practicum as a member of the Army Learning Support Centre (ALSC), a division within the Gagetown Canadian Forces Base that integrates industry standard technologies to develop advanced training for the military. I worked on many exciting projects such as trade show banners, large-format posters, plaques, holiday cards, book covers, and brochures. In our day-to-day operations, myself and the rest of the Graphic Design team worked in a print shop environment equipped with large-format printers, laminator, vacuum press, and various substrates for mounting.

I became a team member of Tim Hortons at the early age of 14. My experiences there gave me an opportunity to develop the team building, interpersonal, time management, and leadership skills I needed to be a successful member of future teams and organizations. During my time with Tim Hortons I cross-trained and performed a variety of roles:Joint Health and Safety Committee Member (JHSC) - Propagated a positive health and safety culture throughout the store- Ensured that health and safety best practices were being practiced on a day-to-day basis - Met with other members of the JHSC to perform monthly inspectionsEmployee Advisory Group (EAG)- Advocated on behalf of store team members to initiate in-house cultural change and recommend best practices- Corresponded with store leaders to act as a liaison between team members and management - Collected and presented anonymous feedback from team members to deliver to store managementStorefront Team Member:- Welcomed our valued customers, ensuring order accuracy and efficiency, - Encouraging customer-first sales, proactively working to ensure order accuracy and timeliness- Ensured consistent speed of service with an order completion average of 30 seconds or less during peak production periods- Developed relationships with frequent/regular customers, strengthening brand loyalty and encouraging future visitsBack-of-House Production- Ensured product availability and freshness through time management and task prioritization skills- Maintained back-of-house health and safety through temperature logs and adherence to sanitation standards
