Studied corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) receptors on mast cells, to elucidate factors that influence receptor expression, and to distinguish distinct roles of each receptor. CRF is a hormone thought to be responsible for inducing stress-related responses due to it's association with various stresses, anxiety, and depressive conditions. By understanding CRF receptor-mediated response in mast cells, it is possible to manipulate the downstream effects and avoid vulnerability to disease caused by acute or chronic stress and anxiety, as well as better understand the stress mechanism in biological systems.• Gathered data from mast cell cultures• Summarize and present findings at NC State's Undergraduate Research Symposium• Data entry, data analysis, data interpretation, basic statistical analysis• PCR, Gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction, DNA purification
