As president of Apple Self Storage, one of Canada’s leading self storage companies, I'm responsible for our strategic vision on how we want to fit in to the Canadian self storage landscape. I oversee our acquisitions, development and the expansion of our third party management program as well as our partnerships and relationships with peers and competitors.My quick history is after attending Western University in London ON, I began working in sales with Xerox. Following this, I founded two startups; one focused on data collection, management and modelling and the other was an insurance services involved in catastrophic loss reduction. Following my exit from these companies, I joined my family’s business, Apple Self Storage, with the mandate of collecting and managing data from the storage industry and growing the company’s portfolio. When I joined Apple Self Storage, we had 13 operating facilities, today, we have almost 50 facilities. I work with large data sets to look at specific demographic combinations that I believe will lead to successful storage facilities. I'm currently responsible for managing these data sets, site selection, financial feasibility, acquisition, development and marketing of any new sites. As well, as often comes with family business, there are often unforeseen challenges brought forth on a day to day basis that need to be taken care of. I'm proud to be the second generation of Allan in Apple Self Storage and is eager to build on the strong reputation of our brand. My plan is continue to grow Apple Self Storage by developing and acquiring facilities in our currently active markets; Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
