With over six years of work experience in the pharmacy and health care sectors, I am passionate about helping people access affordable and quality medications for various conditions, especially HIV, PrEP, and Hepatitis C. As the Pharmacy Services Coordinator at ALFA, a non-profit organization that provides support and advocacy for people living with HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable populations, I assisted clients in applying for health insurance, financial assistance, patient assistance programs, and connecting them with case managers. I also work with a contracted 340-B pharmacy to audit and review reports, and with a prevention team to supply the public with clean supplies for a needle exchange program. I am motivated by ALFA's mission to promote health, dignity, and justice for all, and I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team as a freelance theatre actor and director, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community.In my previous role as a Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy in Chicago, I worked within a clinic to serve the general population, but specifically the LGBTQ+ community, in their pharmacy needs. I worked with a registered HIV pharmacist team to dispense HIV medications as well as PrEP, PEP, and other prescribed medications. I was also a certified Covid-19 and Influenza vaccine immunizer, and I provided excellent customer service, management, and nursing skills. I gained valuable knowledge and experience in the specialty pharmacy field, and I developed strong relationships with the patients and the clinic staff. I left this role in August 2021 to relocate to North Carolina and join ALFA.
