Office Of Instructional Innovation Student Worker
While working for the Office of Instruction Innovation, I worked on internal projects for the university. I have collaborated with my leadership teams on many different training materials for staff and students alike. I create individualized training sessions for the different departments under Ohio Universities umbrella. For instance, I worked on the soon to be published Ohio Guide. The Ohio Guide is a printed booklet that I converted to an internet resource to make the information more accessible. I have also strengthened my skills related to photography, video, and audio. I have expanded my skills through working on live photo, camera, and audio shoots. Many of these projects are integrated into the training and orientation material that I have made for the university.
Ohio University Learning Network Student Worker
While working for the Ohio University Learning Network I became comfortable in situations where I had no idea what was to come. I worked assisting professors in the classroom and my fellow operators. I got to help some professors in the traditional classroom setting and others in the college of business's Professional Master of Business Administration Program. These classes are were favorite because I got to work directly with professors running Adobe Connect and assisting students with technology issues. I got to serve the other operators by working at our help desk. Operators from all of Ohio Universities branch campuses called in with their technology issues. I had to communicate with the other operators to help fix their problems in real-time. This job is completely spontaneous, so I never knew what would happen next. This made me use my critical thinking skills to fix problems.
Leasing Agent
I got to assist customers in finding housing for all lifestyles. I got to use my strong communication skills every day to help leads find housing solutions. I spent a lot of time getting to know potential residents and finding out what is important to them. Once I learned as much as I could, I would show them what all our property had to offer them and how it fits their needs. I also got to assist in the marketing of our property. This could have been as simple as actually going into Athens and talking to potential residents or as complex as helping think of new ways to get people on our property. I also got to be part of helping rebrand our property. Our entire office was working extremely hard to help change the brand perception of our property. We were trying to build a strong brand. We looked working to provide a quality living experience at a more affordable price than our competitors.
Student Worker
During my time at Ohio University Zanesville's (OUZ) IT Department, I got to strengthen many different skills. I worked directly with students in our computer lab. Many students would come to the OUZ IT help desk with their technology issues and we would help them through their issues. I got first-hand customer service experience. I also got some to work doing actual technology work. This consisted of both hardware and software updating. I worked to do updates on technology so that things could run without issues. I also would be sent into classrooms to help fix technical issues that came up during classes.
