I joined Shuter & Shooter Publishers on an internship as part of the Youth Employment Service's annual drive to help combat youth unemployment. At Shuter & Shooter Publishers I served as the Front Desk Receptionist at their Cape Town office. The purpose of my role was to create a calm and efficient environment by keeping the office space clean and organised, providing front-line reception skills that was friendly and professional, and performing key administrative tasks for the team that I supported.The work I performed required conscientious, thorough, accurate and dependable work and I needed to conduct my duties in a conservative, cautious, reliable, consistent and methodical fashion. There was frequent social contact involved in my duties and I was often required to respond to the needs of the team that I supported.

Whilst studying towards my National Diploma I worked part-time for one of Total's outlets in Cape Town. My duties included serving customers to the outlet's retail store, handling monies at the store's pay point and answering incoming calls. I also spent time working as a waitress and bakery assistant in the store's restaurant section.
