Experienced healthcare professional focused on excellence in patient experience, process improvement and physician engagement.MHA/MBA graduate with over 11 years of experience in clinical patient care as well as administrative processes. One experience in particular highlights these qualities. Situation: For some time, St. Mark's Hospital had been experience significant employee turnover. Turnover results in significant costs to any organizations, but additionally leads to negative patient experiences. As part of my administrative internship with St. Mark's we were looking to improve employee retention. Several individuals including the Director of Human Resources and his team were tasked with creating programs to improve employee retention.Action: I was part of the team that was put in charge of creating a tool that would be used by every manager within the hospital to improve the frequency and quality of follow-up each new employee would receive from their manager. I interviewed 25 directors/managers to verify that any tool we would put forth to the managers would reflect the best practices used to engage newly hired employees. We distributed access to the tool to the managers. I then followed up with any manager that had questions and helped them modify the tool to best fit their individual situations.Results: While the tool was subsequently replaced by a corporate program, it had gained interest by several administrators in the Mountain Division. The feedback was very positive and began to show improvement in the quality of interaction managers were having with their new employees and patients.
