About David A. Mccall, Mpi

My passion is finding problems and leading teams to find solutions. I have led multiple projects from concept generation to prototype and then production handoff and support, acting as Project Lead, Systems Integration Engineer and Lead Mechanical Engineer. I have been in charge of engineering and fabrication teams. I am an experienced engineer specializing in the design of machined and sheetmetal components using Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), Value Engineering techniques, and structural simulation using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). I have designed actively and passively cooled electronic enclosures utilizing heat pipes and conduction cooling, analyzing and validating the design using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) before conducting real-world and bench testing to validate the CFD. I have designed wood-based structural components to be shipped as modules with final assembly in the field.I was interviewed by Simscale for an episode of their podcast on design and how simulation tools fit into it.
