Commit to serving in an underdeveloped country for two years; perform extensive research on a rural Rwandan community, analyzing traditional behaviors and health issues to identify possible modes of intervention; work with host country natives of various skill sets and education levels to research, analyze, and make improvements upon living conditions with regard to community health and wellness; learn and speak host country local language at an intermediate level within a two month training period; integrate and work independently in a rural community with minimal assistance from Peace Corps staff; design and implement community based projects to build the capacity and knowledge base of community health workers and health center staff; complete behavior change training and use this knowledge to encourage hygiene, HIV/AIDS, and malaria related behavior change in the community served; encourage cultural dialogue, promoting an understanding of Americans and Rwandans across cultures; display leadership abilities in the following voluntary positions: Eastern Region STOMP Malaria Representative, Malaria Monitoring and Evaluation Representative, English Instructor, Advisor for school life skills clubs, Trainer for mandatory in-service trainings
