This is a Community Interest Company providing training & consultancy to social housing sector. I have been delivering training to social housing tenants aimed at enabling them to achieve the Government’s aim of scrutinising the business of their housing providers, as well as improving their life skills and chances of employment. The training I have been delivering is based on my transferable skills gained in retail such as: positive thinking & behaviour, presentation skills, meeting & committee skills, communication skills, influencing & negotiation. They are funding me to complete a PTLLS course (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) this summer which will further build on my training skills.

Managing a multi-site retail area, monitoring P & L, sales, staff, training, compliance, cash, stock and fuel.• Responsible for up to 19 stores in an area, monitoring P & L, staff, compliance, cash, stock and fuel• Holding monthly area meetings of all store managers, imparting information on changes of procedure, current performance in sales, compliance and stock control and providing coaching/training for improvement• Conducting weekly store visits concentrating on reducing cash and stock loss, store standards, stock levels, customer service and ensuring appropriate use of all security devices on site• Conducting unannounced store visits at various times of day and night to review standards and security etc.• Ensuring compliance to legal and company policies, such as delivery and retail of fuel, age related sales, food hygiene etc.• Conducting full stocktakes producing results on the day and setting action plans for improvement• Carrying out audit follow up meetings, setting action plans for improvement• Delivering training sessions to improve staff performance i.e. improving selling skills, reduction of “drive-offs”, reduction of cash losses including admission of debts (AODs) etc.• Carrying out cash audits and pre-audit checks• Conducting investigations into stock, cash and fuel losses, drilling down into EPOS to establish loss patterns, producing reports and reports for police use in the case of theft• Carrying out investigations, disciplinary meetings, dispute resolution, hearing appeals or grievances

Responsible for all security in up to 350 stores including reviewing security equipment and staff support after security incidents. Investigating losses and preparing statements for prosecution.• Conducting and investigating results from full stock takes.• Loss investigation including interviewing staff, data mining and report preparation.• Regular meetings with police officers providing easily understandable statements and spreadsheets to facilitate prosecution.• Report writing for regional management and board consumption.• Reviewing store security on a risk based basis and ensuring recommendations were carried out.• Attending stores after robbery and burglary, ensuring that staff safety was paramount • Attending home visits after security incidents as required.• Sourcing new security systems i.e. “Smoke Cloak” and reviewing existing alarm and security systems.• Conducting and reviewing risk assessments

Reporting to Retail Control Manager; responsible for stock control, audit and compliance in up to 90 stores, mainly “Bottoms Up”, which were largest stores within Thresher Group, plus 4 concept stores called Martha’s Vineyard in Bristol, Barnet, Sunbury and Solihull.
