About Damian Brennan

Entrepreneurial Manufacturing professional with extensive experience in growing the business.I have never worked for a company that was "standing still". Growth is always preferred but I have dealt with downturns as well. Under both scenarios I have found that building a flexible business model, putting in place a scalable technical architecture, finding and holding on to the right people, broadly sharing the vision and focusing on clear and objective performance data makes the difference.I earned my MBA and MS in Information Systems from Boston University, and my BA in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Albany.

  • Ima Consulting, Llc.
Partner / Director Of Knowledge Systems
Ima Consulting, Llc. Jul 2000 - Dec 2005
    Chadds Ford, Pa, Us
Ima Consulting was a boutique consulting firm and software start-up that provided HR consulting services and software to Japan-related companies in the United States. I started as a freelance software developer to Ima Consulting as I was transitioning into graduate school. I maintained that relationship through 2002 and was recruited to Ima by the founding partners, John Crum and Yumi Okuyama. My major accomplishment at Ima was the design and development of accessia®, an innovative web-based set of Performance Management and general HR tools. I eventually took on responsibility for the consulting team. Consulting revenue grew by 75% over the two following years, while our gross margin on consulting services increased by 50%.Some highlights included working with a classically trained Japanese artist to design the UI including digital dashboards, reports, wizards and data screens and pushing the product through to beta testing in 4 months. We achieved payback on the investment within the first three months of sales. ROI as of 2005 was 500%. We essentially crowd-sourced the development costs, and were profitable by the time the software had completed development.Through the use of accessia and other process improvements we reduced the time required to complete standard projects from 12 months to 8 months and grew our customer base from 40 customers in 2002 to 135 in 2005.

Primary responsibilities included:1 - The development of our in-house inventory, logistics and billing system. Artco was a trading company at this time and its business was highly cyclical. We grew from processing fewer than 5 truckloads per day when I first joined to up to 300 truckloads per day at our peak. The systems I developed in-house allowed us to scale up our business accordingly, without having to add additional internal staff.2 - Managing the complete range of logistics tasks including U.S. Customs filings, preparing letters of credit, negotiating contracts with third party logistics providers, tracking and resolving material defects, providing shipment and product detail to customers, preparing all customer billing documentation and managing the internal administrative staff.3 - Handling special projects such as complex toll processing arrangements and the introduction of new products in to the U.S. market.
