About Damian Collins

Damian Collins is a former government Minister and was the MP for Folkestone and Hythe from 2010 until the dissolution of parliament for the 2024 general election. In the 2023 Birthday Honours List of King Charles III he was appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).Damian was Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee from 2016 to 2019, leading inquiries into disinfomation and fake news on social media, immersive and addictive technologies, effective sports governance and the future of the BBC. In 2021 he Chaired the Joint Committee of the House of Commons and House of Lords to scrutinse the Online Safety Bill. In 2022 he was Minister for Tech and the Digital Econony at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.He is the host of the Infotagion pocast, which discusses the interface between government, politics, the media and technology - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-infotagion-podcast-with-damian-collins-mp/id1508368185His first book, Charmed Life, the phenomenal world of Philip Sassoon was published by Harper Collins in 2016. He has also written about David Lloyd George and Theodore Roosevelt for Iain Dale’s books, The Prime Ministers and The Presidents. His latest book is a biography of David Lloyd George which was published by Bloomsbury in 2024. Damian has also written on politics and tech for the New York Times, The Times, Wired, The Daily Telegraph and the London Evening Standard.
