Returning to work in a large public hospital meant a return to all aspects of radiology. Most shifts at RMH were spent in MRI and emergency xray however I also experienced time in theatre, general xray, angiography and fluoscopy. I was appointed part of the MRI team after a few months at RMH and spent large amounts of time on both 1.5T GE magnets and 3T Siemens magnet. These shifts meant I was expected to sometimes work autonomously while other times I needed to work as part of a team to ensure an effective result.RMH has become one of Melbourne’s leading trauma centres and during my time at RMH I became a very effective trauma radiographer. I frequently used Computed Radiography, Digital Radiography and PACS. As a senior radiographer I was responsible for helping to manage the workflow of the department. I also enjoyed teaching students and guiding interns/newly qualified radiographers with xray/MRI examinations. Show less

At The Avenue Hospital I was on a roster that consisted of half general radiography and half MRI scanning. It is a MSK hospital and whilst here, I learnt to scan a number of soft tissue and joint injuries I had not previously encountered. As with my Ballarat Base Hospital experience I worked with CR and PACS.

At St Mary’s Hospital (SMH) I worked on both NHS and Private scanners. I worked on 1.5T GE scanners responsible for scanning both in and out patient requests. SMH had a paediatric ward and many outpatient children were scanned in our department. After working at SMH my experience has grown to include a lot more abdominal work to add to my Neuro and MSK scanning. I was employed at the Whittington hospital to work 10-12 hour weekend shifts to help bring down weekday waiting lists. During these shifts I worked autonomously and because I was scanning on a Philips MRI scanner I needed to quickly adapt to a new interface, coils and sequences.

At the Ballarat Base Hospital Radiology Department I gained competency in all areas of general radiography, angiography, fluoscopy, theatre and trauma radiography. I gained MRI training on a 1.5T Seimens scanner and was very active on the oncall, afterhours and weekend roster. I also experienced a lot of paediatric general and trauma examinations.
