This team is in charge of providing data that drives the Carsales Network websites, and how we can find competitive advantages with our data. Part of this is to develop new data capture systems to replace the ageing RedBook systems that will improve efficiency and increase the richness of the data. This includes the data itself, photo libraries, colour matching and maintaining metadata to data drive carsales’ details pages.This role also includes looking after The RedBook Commercial IT products for Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

In this role I managed a team of developers and while continuing the RedBook commercial brand I was also in charge of integrating the RedBook data throughout the carsales network and providing my knowledge of that data. I was also in charge of integrating RedBook’s systems over to carsales infrastructure, including supporting the researchers in the Sydney office over remote connections.

I Managed the RedBook IT systems and team, as well as designing and developing RedBook's systems. Technologies include C# ASP.NET, SQL Server, Delphi, Firebird, Paradox, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Windows and Linux.RedBook through this period expanded into the Asia region and I was instrumental in setting up the IT solutions for this expansion. I travelled over to the new offices in Bangkok and Beijing and set up the offices, met with potential clients and provided training on the RedBook systems to the staff.We also expanded the team and the RedBook public brand in Australia grew mainly because of the public website we launched. This created interest from other early web sites such as Carsales, News Limited, Fairfax, Yellow Pages and other brands who we then helped and provided data to. In this role I also developed the B2B commercial web sites originally written in ASP classic/SQL Server and then PHP/MySQL, and also RedBook products such as their Windows application for looking up vehicles, and a Windows Pocket PC application written in C#. We also developed a data feed system that output all the different client formats using scripts.

Designed, architected and developed all of Red Book's systems - both internal and external. Internal systems were written in Delphi using Paradox and Interbase databases and were primarily management tools for Red Book's vehicle databases, but also included developing Red Book's pricing tools and reporting systems.External systems included the web sites originally written in ASP classic/SQL Server and then PHP/MySQL, and also Red Book products such as their Windows application for looking up vehicles, and a Pocket PC application written in C#.

After starting as a delivery driver at the Adamstown store, I was quickly promoted to shift runner and then store manager for the Glendale store while completing my University degree. This role included the daily running of the store, stock management and ordering, managing around 30 staff, staff rostering, hiring, training, banking, and handling customer service and complaints. In my time as manager we doubled the weekly sales figures.
