Nothing has sparked a passion in me like electronics have. It started with someone explaining to me what an Arduino was at a school networking session and has snowballed from there ever since. I would binge watch Arduino projects on YouTube, eager to discover the next great thing I could create. I needed to restrain how much money I spent on breadboards and maker kits, reminding myself I still had school to pay for. That passion has lead me to some amazing experiences in my career. I discovered McMaster NEUDOSE, a team at my school with the goal of sending a student made satellite into space. From working with the team I was able to foster my skills in hardware design, learning how to pick components, create schematics, and layout parts on a PCB cad in Altium. I became enamored by radio systems and communications and directed my courses towards studying them. My involvement with NEUDOSE provided me with the knowledge I needed to land an amazing Internship at Kepler communications, taking my hardware design skills to the next level. Encouraged by a great team to learn as much as I could, I stuck my nose in as many books I could find about hardware design. I was able to develop multiple PCB's from scoping all the way to schematics, layout, conversations with manufacturing partners, and finally testing. The experience gave me a great respect for all of the effort that goes into a great design. I was even able test some of their satellites that are now in orbit above the earth! Watching the live footage of a rocket carrying months of our team's work was truly awe inspiring. The end of my internship left me with a longing to continue practical design outside of work. I continue to work on multiple projects during my free time to scratch that itch of creating something new. From things as small as fixing my friend's broken electronics, to hacking together some light strips to personalize my room, to developing custom firmware for a quad rotor, I can never quite seem to find the end of my interest with electronics, and I hope I never will.
