About Damir Slogar

With over 40 years spent in video game industry and credited for over 100 games across 20 different platforms, Damir experienced the video game industry through and through. Born and raised in Croatia, he started his career in the mid 80's as a programmer creating proprietary games for the MSX computer series and Commodore Amiga. The next couple of years, he spent in broadcasting; producing and hosting a live TV show devoted to video games and computer technology. In 1995, he founded a video game magazine Pixel, where he worked as the editor. Pixel was the first commercial disk (1.44Mb floppy) based magazine with nation-wide distribution through newspaper stands. In 1999, he moved to Canada and continued his professional career as a lead programmer, first in Sandbox Studios and later in Digital Illusions Canada. He worked on variety of titles, ranging from the EA’s Battlefield to Barbie. In 2002, he started Big Blue Bubble, which quickly became one of the best known mobile game studios in North America. During his 20 years as the CEO, company developed some of the biggest hit games that won multiple awards and generated hundreds of millions of downloads. In last decade, Damir was also active investor in medical & technology startups with most recent exits being LabStyle Innovations Corp. (Nasdaq:DRIO) and VanRx (vanrx.com).
