I am a qualified Electrician with the following certificates and licenses: Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician, Electrical Contractor Supervisor License (Q), Heavy Rigid Driving License, High Voltage Switching Ticket, Controlled Descent Escape, First Aid, Electrical Trade Certificate of Proficiency, EWP, Working Safely at Heights, Low Voltage Rescue & Release and CPR, Enter and Work in Confined Spaces, Low Voltage Electrical Ticket, WorkCover Construction White Card. My employment to date has been as a High Voltage Diagnostic Technician and Industrial/Mining Electrician. My current job with Verico Asset Integrity Services involves high voltage integrity testing of HV switchgear and plant items such as transformers, transformer bushings, circuit breakers, motors and generators, isolators and switchyard bus sections. The testing components include insulation resistance and polarisation index, winding resistance, ratio and polarity, dielectric dissipation factor, paper moisture (dirana) and voltage withstand tests (applied and induced, partial discharge, frequency response and analysis). In conjunction with high voltage testing comes the understanding of safety aspects for applying high voltages to plant items and the potential damage to the item during test. This is followed by correct procedures for recording and reporting of test results. I have utilised valuable opportunities working at Power Stations across the Hunter Region to perform high voltage integrity testing of high voltage transformers and switchgear. I understand the operations and workings of gas/diesel power plants. I have also been deployed by Transgrid to carry out maintenance work in their substations, solar and wind farms across NSW hence I am familiar with the preparation and issuing of access authorisations and permits to work. Additionally I have extensive work experience in coal handling prep plants and steel manufacturing, undertaking maintenance, breakdown and routine service tasks on fixed plant equipment and machinery. I have attained a high level of experience and knowledge working within high risk environments of mining, high voltage power generation and heavy industrial steel manufacturing. This has afforded me widespread competency in routine and breakdown testing of high voltage transformers as well as oil sampling transformers, both above and underground. I am proficient with the use of PLC’s and instrumentation and have high abilities in fault-finding and using diagnostic analysis.
