Data Network Engineering comes under Operational Data Networks, within Global Operations.We are responsible for the IP Backbone Networks connecting all Satellite Access Stations, National SAS Gateways, Data Centres, Nodes & buildings within Viasat.These networks are critical to Viasat’s revenue generation and have to be treated as such to provide secure, resilient and timely movement of data. The networks are being expanded as new Viasat ground stations are opened, new systems implemented, new requirements formulated, and to meet current industry standards and best practises.I lead a team of Senior Engineers responsible for the implementation and maintaining of these Networks & Services for our principal Stakeholders.The team act also as third level support for all incident and cases escalated from the Transport Network Global Operations team.

These networks are critical to Inmarsat’s revenue generation and have to be treated as such to provide secure, resilient and timely movement of data. The networks are being expanded as new Inmarsat ground stations are opened, new systems implemented, new requirements formulated, and to meet current industry standards and best practises.We are responsible for configuration, troubleshooting, securing and expanding the Operational Networks as required and are also responsible for interfacing and securing connectivity to the national SAS gateways, monitoring activities of the Data Communications Network (DCN) and other network duties.

• Responsible for the set-up, development and ongoing leadership of a core team responsible for the technical planning, detailed preparation and co-ordination of technology and service migrations between network sites. • To manage the relationships with key supporting teams such as Service Delivery and Change Management for workload and resource planning in support of node migration projects.• Provide planning and technical expertise to the Node Strategy team for development of proposals and business cases for future node migrations.• Support other migration or network asset optimisation related tasks.

Netcare Team based in UK and DE, responsible for proactive Network Optimisation. Heavily involved in End of Life product removal. We also plan and coordinate OLO Migrations - normally shifting between suppliers to ensure optimum ROI for Colt.● Inspire and drive performance in the Netcare team according to the Company values and mission.● Define target and stretch goals for all personnel, maintain performance levels.● Ensuring all projects supply Return on Investment, efficiencies and cost savings.● Enforcing Project Governance.● Maintaining Opex expenditure against the department cost centre within budget.● Ensuring that Capex expenditure does not exceed the value of the CPA.● Responsible for creating and maintaining Implementation Customer Feedback tool and report.● Gatekeeper between Network Planning and Service Delivery teams.

Responsible for running the COLT Network Management Centre, through the BEP Transition period. Running 4 shifts of 12 Techs, 1 Manager plus a core Day staff, monitoring the COLT Backbone Transmission, Data and Voice networks.

Responsible for running a 12 man shift, 24/7 in the COLT Network Management Centre. The Team are responsible for monitoring the COLT Transmission, Data and Voice Backbone networks, raising faults and resolving them.Shift Manager role is to provide a single point of contact within the company for all network issues. Out of hours the Shift Manager is also the escalation point within COLT.

Monitoring the Backbone Transmission Network, from the Network Management Centre. Also designated as assistant Shift Manager and covered that role when Shift Manager absent. Duties included the following: ● Proactive Monitoring and Maintenance of Transmission Network. ● Manage all new core Transmission Network Installations. ● Fault management and resolution within agreed SLA’s. ● Out of hours Customer Diagnostics and circuit delivery.● Extensive user knowledge of Netcool (Network management tool), Remedy (Fault management system) and XNG (Network Routing database). ● Raise, co-ordinate and manage Planned Works.
