I am a senior HR generalist and have successfully operated across a wide range of industry sectors, and have experience of all main areas of operational HR including ER, IR, recruitment, assessment design and delivery, psychometric testing, employment law, leading HR teams, TUPE, HR strategy, policy development and job evaluation.KEY STRENGTHSAligning HR interventions to business goals. Why? I started my career outside of HR and worked for Lloyds Bank in branches and for the Compass Group in business efficiency and in design and planning. I feel that working in different aspects of business gives me greater empathy with business leaders and the challenges they face. HR is a business enabler.Quickly building trust and confidence with business partners. I am experienced and am good at what I do. My last four roles were all interim contracts. The first contract (Halcrow) was for four months - it lasted for four years in total, turning permanent half way through. My contract with RVS was for six months and this lasted for two years. With Snows, three months turned into two and a half years, again turning permanent.Having worked in six diverse industry sectors (high tech engineering, contract catering, motoring services, IT infrastructure, civil engineering and the third sector) and each one different from the previous one, I am able to quickly focus on the key issues and get on with helping solve them.

Offered permanent contract as Head of HR for Snows and for Crendon Timber Engineering, two separate companies within the Bradford Group. Both are SMEs (Crendon turnover £40m, 330 employees; Snows turnover £45m, 200 employees) so the Head of HR role was a hands-on operational role as well as a strategic one.• Ran all people aspects of change and transformation project for Snows. This involved closing one Distribution Centre (DC) and introducing shift working at two other DCs to absorb additional capacity from the closing DC and all associated collective and individual consultation. Migrated internal sales function and credit control to new National Sales Office. Project realised £2.5m savings, turned loss to break even and made Snows ready for strong future.• Ran collective and individual consultation with elected representatives and with GMB union to change terms and conditions of employment (hours of work, reduction of overtime premiums, consolidation of historic allowances/bonuses) in Crendon. All agreed without any disruption. Benefit to Crendon of increased productivity (10%), flatter and more predictable staff costs. Benefit to employees of increased base salary so higher Company pension contributions and removal of seasonal variance in pay.• Increased return rate of Employee Engagement surveys in both businesses (Snows by 30%, Crendon by 16%) and introduced a range of engagement measures to directly address the feedback including ‘back to the floor’ by senior teams, employee helpline, salary sacrifice and ‘Team Talk’ monthly magazine.The Bradford Group sold Crendon Timber Engineering in June 2018 and having downsized Snows considerably, it did not need a Head of HR.
