I am a highly passionate, energetic, and dynamic advocate for the advancement and empowerment of my clients. I am a psychologist, educator, and life coach, whose goals are to empower my clients to overcome challenges that impede personal, professional, emotional, psychological, and academic advancement. I teach my clients how to achieve the exceptional, substantial, powerful, and significant.I have 15 years of experience working with college students implementing innovative programs in behavioral modification, providing assessments and interventions that promote student wellness and foster academic success and personal wellness. I have experience devising student-ready adjustment plans and primary prevention programs that have reduced incidents of student failure in academic settings. My area of expertise is on areas of student academic achievement and motivation with a specific interest in developing ways to reduce the attrition rate of African American and Latinx students at the post-secondary level. In my research, I have investigated the intersection of race, ethnicity, and gender, and its implication for identity development and educational attainment. I have written on the socialization of masculinity among African American and Latinx boys as mediated by their relationships with significant individuals, as well as the micro and macro-level structures and psychosocial experiences that influence African American and Latinx students’ educational experiences. My current research, “The Deleterious Effect of Cumulative Intellectual Trauma on the Academic and Intellectual Agency of Black and Latinx Males,” is a novel exegesis of my work on cumulative intellectual trauma. Cumulative Intellectual Trauma (CIT) is the frequent and continuous exposure to environmental messages of ineptitude, hopelessness, and mediocrity related to an individual’s educational and intellectual pursuit. Cumulative Intellectual Trauma focuses on an individual’s self-esteem, self-concept, and sense of belief in their ability to learn and achieve academically and advance intellectually.I am a consultant of Davis Counseling & Education Consulting, Inc. that provides culturally responsive, dynamic, and transformative counseling and educational services. I am a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. I am the founder and Board of Trustee member of Phi Psi Lambda Leadership Society Incorporated, the first of its kind leadership organization for the advancement of males of color in higher education, where he serves as the Chapter Advisor of the Alpha Chapter.
