Current• Lead and manage all operational training and administrative activities of the Airport Authority Canine Unit. • Plan and manage human, canine, financial and material resources for the Canine Unit Proven ability of a professional with a positive attitude and image that gains the respect , cooperation, trust and confidence of all stakeholders. Above average analytical skills and solid judgement to identify potential risk/threat situation Demonstrated tenacity, drive and self-motivation to respond quickly and calmly in pressure situations; maintain a constant state of readiness and awareness of surrounding,taking charge when situations require immediate direction during the threat / risk assessment process; clear and concise fact based decisions independently while maintaining a controlled demeanour and presence under pressure and situations. Implement measures to identify and meet goals policies, procedures and work standards for the unit;• Provide SOP direction and updates for airport security operations, senior management, the Ottawa Police Service and other agencies;• Prepare a variety of statistical and narrative reports, informational materials, correspondence and other written materials;• Confer with and act as a liaison to policing services and other agencies and programs;• Plan, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of the canine unit;• Respond to emergency airport events, act as primary point of contact, and make on-scene decisions in accordance with established airport security operations;• Investigate any incident involving the canine unit, take all necessary actions and corrective measures.• Develop and nurture a positive relationship with Ottawa Police Services, Ontario Provincial Police, Canadian Military, Canada Boarder Services, Transport Canada and other agencies.
