Implementation of a Beta Business to Government (B2G) API gateway as a technical capability established under the Federal government’s Aged Care Reforms to improve information sharing between Aged Care service providers and government. As business project manager in the department’s Digital Reform Branch, my role is to collaborate closely with technical delivery partners in the Digital Transformation and Delivery Division and external stakeholders to achieve the department’s Aged Care reform targets through to December 2024. The primary goal is to drive accountability of project outcomes against ambitious timeframes whilst accurately reporting and managing delivery risk, schedules, dependencies and milestones according to the department’s project management framework under a hybrid Agile management style.

This period is focusing on national delivery of the Pregnancy and Children's Digital Health Record, accessible through the national My Health Record. Building on a national technical framework for pregnancy and children's health information, this project will make secure health information for pregnant women more accessible to them, and their treating clinicians, wherever they live in Australia.

The Electronic Prescribing project required maintaining a close collaboration with the Department of Health and delivering project functions to support the program Director to execute the Technical Framework and Change Management functions delivering electronic prescriptions to prescribers and dispensers across general practice and community pharmacy in all states and territories. Introducing electronic prescriptions nationally required careful consideration of the discrete perspectives of clinical peak bodies, including the national branches of Pharmacy Guild, Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian Medical Association. The role was extremely rewarding by working across software providers of clinical information systems and stakeholders at national levels through the COVID-19 pandemic, being part of the machinery that accelerated the delivery to market of electronic prescriptions to support patient care under significant duress and strain for the Australian community.
