About Dan Berger

I graduated from VA Tech with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy, Which... put me in the restaurant industry. I was well on my way to a second major in Computer Science with an English minor when I suffered a collapsed lung and decided not to extend my undergraduate career. After becoming a road trainer and ultimately a corporate restaurant manager (and the advent of the internet), I went back to school to pursue a career in Information Technology. 18 years later and I can't imagine doing anything else!I began my career with Sentara Healthcare as a Client/Server developer working on interfaces and SQL Server development. I also taught Visual Basic Programming at ECPI to keep my teaching and communication skills sharp. I transferred to the HRIS group and became a System Administrator supporting the API Time & Attendance system. I moved away from pure development and branched out to systems integration and development which gave me great experience in all aspects of system integration and database management/administration. I have since morphed into more of an Architect role as I am developing some extremely difficult (and interesting!) interfaces and reports using SSIS and SSRS. I am also designing and integrating systems and developing solutions for system issues to improve the reliability of my systems and to improve the user experience.
