High Voltage Technician
CurrentResponsibile for the operations and maintenance of one 345 KV – 34.5 KV substation and two 230 KV - 34.5 substations, the associated underground collection system and 45 miles of transmission line for all the stations. These stations serve to supply power to and collect power from 350 wind turbine generators that produce a total of 600 MW. My responsibilities include inspecting, testing, repairing and installing substation equipment; pad mount transformers; circuit junction boxes; line locating; underground fault locating and cable repair; protection and control relays; high voltage switching operations; communications and network systems; coordinating contractors and vendors for FERC and NERC testing requirements; and ensuring the operational condition and readiness of the facilities.Leader of the Power Delivery Safety Commitee; member of the Power Delivery Switching Commitee; certified Substation and Padmount Transformer Switching Instructor; certified as a Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
