Moving Video over IP in mission critical applications has been my field of choice for over 20 years and to me Video has always been a "packet". I have built business units inside of companies and businesses from scratch in this arena by first establishing the service platforms and then delivering the clients. I used the h.264 video standard to put over 300 hundred NFL teams, NASCAR teams, Big Ten teams and sports and financial analysts into live television programming in a time that producers were struggling to produce fresh nightly programming. Bringing real-time two-way HD video to and from their talent with high quality with no advance scheduling and at a fixed monthly cost was a godsend for these producers. The Broadcast Industry knows me best for creating the 1st (SD) and 2nd (HD) generations of "Team Cam" for NFL Network while also creating the two-way HD Video contribution networks for ESPN, FOX Sports 1&2, CBS Sports Network, MLB Network, Big Ten Network, NASCAR, CNBC and more.If you are watching a sports or financial news program right now and a "remote contributor" pops in it's 50% likely that I put them there. My goal is to stay on that edge as television migrates to a full IP/OTT platform.

At the outset, I established Regional Sports Networks and Television Station Groups as targets and established comprehensive remote (TV) signal acquisition networks for both FOX Sports Networks and CBS Sports Networks bringing dozens of remote analysts into both their respective nightly network programming and Sunday morning NFL pregame programming.I next succeeded in establishing Masergy as a player on the TV Station Groups side by establishing MPLS/VPLS services system-wide across all 42 Tribune Broadcasting Stations. In this endeavor, we replaced ATT while simultaneously eliminating $425,000 in monthly expense for occasional use Satellite services that had been used to augment poorly performing ATT services. The saving on monthly satellite services alone more than offset the cost of the new Masergy services. After next identifying “Centralcasting” as a directive for Masergy, I positioned Sinclair Communications (the largest US Station Group) on Masergy to advance this initiative succeeding within two initial deployments consolidating Indiana and Missouri stations into South Bend and Jefferson City Hubs, respectively. Centralcasting enables Station Groups with hundreds of owned Stations to virtualize Television production into a Hub/Spoke configuration with the Central Hub (Station) producing five or six Stations simultaneously. Masergy services are deployed to bring multiple camera feeds from each station into the Hub Station where they are fully and simultaneously produced by a single staff. As Station Groups migrate to 4K, UHD and ATSC 3.0, this strategy future-proofs production in terms of hardware and personnel requirements, forever. Show less -

Prior to my establishing this new high margin, recurring revenue based business, Azzurro was involved in two other traditional businesses: systems integration (AzzurroSI) and occasional use fiber switching services (AzzurroHD) with AzzurroHD confined to Manhattan and limited by the Verizon Fiber footprint on the island. Similar businesses have existed in NY and LA for many years. I established Azzurro IP as a comprehensive managed service provider to support live-to-air HD broadcasting between any Broadcast Network studio located anywhere in the world and their respective remote team or analyst location scattered anywhere in the world all via multicast on Masergy. In this capacity, I established the entire service offering, hired and managed all supporting personnel, established business targets and succeeded in establishing a roster of A-list clients.Succeeded in implementing services for NFL Network, MLB Network and CNBC with the NFL Network application including all 32 NFL team’s training facilities. Initial contract revenues exceeded $7 million at 55% gross profit margins in a monthly recurring revenue business model. Examples of this work can be seen daily in live broadcasting on NFL’s “Total Access” and “Around the League”, MLB’s “Intentional Talk” and throughout CNBC’s daily programming. Show less -

Foreseeing the opportunity to dramatically enhance live television production, I established the first fully managed service that uniquely enabled Television producers to access their remote talent (analysts) and bring them into daily live programming at a fixed cost. Prior to establishing this service, a satellite truck had to be dispatched to the talent at an average cost of $2500 per event or the talent needed to go into a major city-based studio providing satellite or Vyvx services costing $700-$1000 per visit. At a fixed cost of around $2000/month/location these embedded capabilities literally changed the face of television.Starting from a $0 revenue base and with no market presence in Broadcast, I established a live-to-air service targeting the broadcast vertical market that generated over $1.2 Million in subscription-based monthly recurring revenues. By 2009, this grew into the single largest revenue source (14%) and profit source (>50%) for Glowpoint.Established comprehensive live signal acquisition networks for NFL Network; ESPN; NASCAR; Big Ten Network; Mountain West Sports Network; FOXsport.com; NBCSports.com; and Comcast & FOX Regional Broadcasting Networks. In this period, if you saw a live Analyst on Television in a split screen it was 75% likely that I put them there. In almost every case this content was also repurposed for Internet streaming.
