I became an over-the-road truck driver in 2005 after the dot-com crash eliminated my chances of really advancing in the IT sector. Since then I've safely driven about 2,000,000 miles across the 48 contiguous United States (as well as two Canadian provinces), primarily pulling 53' dry van and reefer trailers. I have a 1M mile safe driving award from my current employer.Prior to entering the transportation industry I worked primarily in networking and desktop support. While I haven't worked professionally in the sector since Windows XP was new, I have kept my skills current with my own personal projects and would need relatively little training to reenter that sector. There's a server rack in my laundry room and I use it regularly.I would like to leverage my skills and experience to do something that doesn't involve actually driving a truck: dispatch, load planning, safety and compliance, or similar positions. I feel that I'd make an excellent load planner and be pretty good at the others; I have a knack for figuring out how to deliver the "undeliverable" loads on time. I am currently rather happy with my current employer, limited hometime notwithstanding, and would be pretty reluctant to leave this company to drive a truck for another one unless the pay increase was huge and/or it came with significantly more frequent time at home. Any job with room for career growth and which lets me be home every day (or at least most of them) would definitely grab my attention. Remote work would be ideal as I've got the skills to get and keep my stuff connected to your office; I'll probably provide much more tech support than I'll require.NO I DO NOT WANT TO LEASE A TRUCK!!!!For my own amusement I greatly enjoy designing, engineering, and building all manner of little electronic gizmos; I etched my first PCB when I was 12 (with a Sharpie marker on bare copper clad FR-4!) and have since graduated to KiCAD and JLC. I've therefore applied to FIU's BSEE program...please cross your fingers for me! If you're looking for an entry level PCB design person please give me a shot.Outside the realm of work, I'm an avid scuba diver and can often be found about 60 feet down in the Gulf of Mexico.
