About Dan Budd
During Mr. Budd’s career, he has attained over 33 years of Civil Engineering, Construction, and Survey experience. He has 4 ½ years at Arizona Department of Transportation, and has spent 28 years working full time with the ITD D1. During his extensive ITD career, Dan specialized in project management, design, inspection, and material testing. Dan’s project experience includes: Design and drafting of detailed maps, highway plan sheets and traffic control plans. He has prepared and reviewed detailed estimates, cost studies, materials specifications, standard drawings and special provisions for traffic control plans, illumination’s details, signal installations, striping details, and signing details. Dan started working with MicroStation at ADOT back in 1987 when it was Intergraph and ran on a DEC VAX from graphic terminals. In 1992 he learned InRoads V4.0 running the CLIX platform support (variant of UNIX) and since the time he has been the primary InRoads user for District 1. Dan has completed engineering TOPO maps, performed mapping digitizing and other special drafting projects with INTERGRAPH VAX, PC MicroStation, and Interpro 2020 CADDS. He has put bid proposals together for all his projects and is very familiar with Federal, State, Local and AASHTO requirement’s. Dan was the primary CADD operatory for District 1 for 20 years, and was on the CADD advisory team for two years to set standards, procedures, methods on CADD operations and to determine when to upgrade ITD software. Dan has also inspected all phases of contractor work, procedures, and progress to assure compliance with plans, specifications, and standards. He has managed all construction activities for documentation and pay quantities. Along with that, he collected samples and performed tests on a variety of materials such as soils, aggregates, bituminous materials, paving mixtures, and concrete. Dan monitored quality control by reviewing inspection and testing reports of all construction phases, inspected traffic control systems and devices for proper application and maintained laboratory testing equipment.
