o Extensively expanded VMware support with HNAS product which transformed into our #1 use case amongst our customers.o Acquired budget approval and hired a new team to develop a VMware VVOL module. Team delivered VVOL module on an aggressive schedule to meet the business objective to be the first NAS vendor to support VMware VVOL.o Led team to develop other VMware modules to support VMware VMs hosted on the HNAS NAS product. Heavily involved in tuning HNAS product to meet performance objectives under Enterprise VM workload.o Collaborated across the organization to extend NAS support across a company primarily focused on SAN. Led the effort to develop and execute to integrate NAS support into the chosen management platform.o Managed three other teams delivering core features for the HNAS product to expand HNAS support for various customer use cases.

Responsible for all US Based Engineering teams and the outsourced off shore Engineering team. The US Engineering team represented 33% of the BlueArc Engineering team and was made up of 3 teams and 45 Engineers. The US based Engineering teams were responsible for UI, File systems, and VM solutions for the BlueArc NAS product. I also established and ran the outsourced Engineering team to develop a VMware modules to manage VMs hosted on the BlueArc NAS product. BlueArc purchased by OEM, Hitachi Data Systems.

Engineering team developed and introduced a Linux security module that replicated the MS Windows security descriptors. Positioned the product with the best Windows security compatibility of all NAS products not running a native Windows OS. Developing several new platforms for the NAS product to meet the market requirements. Lead the team to add support for Windows VSS/VDS working in concert with multiple NAS servers running iSCSI.

Our Engineering team completely replaced every hardware platform in our product line over a very short period of time to successfully meet the RoHS requirements. While replacing each of the platforms, we engaged and brought on line three new contract manufacturers and faced numerous technical challenges. We re-released all of our products in time to meet the RoHS timetable and avoid an interruption in product availability or support for our customers. Prior to the refresh, we introduced a ‘Unicode’ aware cross protocol version of our Operating System. Adaptec sold the business to Overland Storage, Inc.

Led the team that developed support for new FC / SATA expansion unit that allowed the Snap Servers to scale from 480GB to 44TB with the same level of service and the same ‘core’ Web based User Interface. The product received many awards for its design, ‘best of class’, and ease of use. Worked with Exec Management to completely retool the entire organization after the acquisition from Quantum. Successfully rebuilt the business unit and eventually sold the company to Adaptec for over 100 million.

Led the Engineering team to deliver the first two releases of the Guardian NAS product. The Guardian OS is a Linux based OS for the company’s new enterprise class NAS product. This project involved over 20 engineers and a fairly aggressive schedule. We successfully released two new products within a year based on this OS. Lead a team to release a Java Virtual Machine on the SnapOS, which is a company’s workgroup class NAS OS. This was a project that was under development for over a year, and the Engineering team was struggling to wrap up the issues. Also lead the efforts to release the Japanese and Chinese versions of the product on the SnapOS. Quantum sold the business to Snap Appliance, Inc.

Responsible for setting the technical direction of the company which involved developing and releasing products from the ground up. Directed the other engineers and ensured that their efforts culminated in precisely the product the company needed and was expecting. Specifically, an entire product was completely rewritten to use an SQL database. This product is used to track Copyright Fees and compliance in both the US and Canada. This release was a significant step forward in functionality from the previous product. I also designed a replacement for the existing Imaging system product.

Responsible for releasing and maintaining the entire CD-ROM server products. Responsible for ensuring that a product was released on time and without any major problems. Worked and reported directly to the CTO. I implemented several Windows applications for the CD-ROM products. I also redesigned and implemented a disk / file system consistency check for Meridian’s Snap Server product.

As the lead Windows programmer, I was directly involved in the design and implementation of several large scale projects including Mountain’s premier MS-Windows product, ‘FileSafe Rescue NLM’. Designed and began implementation on a distributed backup scheduling system for Windows NT and Windows 95. There were several legacy MS-Windows applications that were in desperate need of re-tooling. I updated significant portions of the User Interface code that improved the overall usability and lead to a major OEM deal. I also improved the speed of the File Display window by over 70%. I also fixed the software release system allowing the company to more quickly and reliably produce various software products and software releases.

Actively involved in the design, development, and implementation phases for the Target Imaging System. I did the programming for various software imaging components such as the Optical Disk Server, the Image Fax/Print Server and the database search engine. My work on these modules involved working with several Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) SCSI & SCSI-II optical disk drives. In addition, I wrote the image capture module that involved interfacing with various hi-speed scanners. All of these modules were developed in Microsoft 'C' utilizing the Windows SDK. I was also responsible for the supervision of the other members of the development team.

Responsible for designing and writing programs for the source document retrieval product. Most of my work involved developing an Index and Search program. These two programs worked with various devices that included a scanner, a microfilm reader/printer (via RS-232), and an optical disk drive that was accessed via a proprietary interface card. Most of the code for these programs was written in R/Basic. However, the lower level device interfaces were written in ‘C’ (Lattice and Microsoft). I was also responsible for implementing modifications and enhancements requested by the clients.
