I have been using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to solve problems for more than a decade, including 7 years with the City of Philadelphia's Office of Innovation and Technology and 10 years supporting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 3, headquartered in Philadelphia. I am proficient with many GIS and GIS-related software packages and techniques, including ESRI desktop and web GIS, Trimble GPS software, and the Cityworks asset management system. I am also proficient in the creation, compilation, and editing of spatial data, geospatial analysis, and integration of various data sources into finished maps, interactive mapping applications, spatial databases, and other spatial data products.In addition to my GIS experience, I’ve been a tech problem-solver of one sort or another most of my life. I’ve been using computers since the early 1980s, building and maintaining them since the early 1990s, and supporting them professionally since 1998. I have been the first line of IT support for staff, resolving software, network, and hardware issues. I have resurrected laptops killed by Pepsi spills, repaired large-format printers, wired an office for networking, set up a phone system that my then-coworkers still rave about, and ensured that user data is both backed up and available in the field.With the City of Philadelphia, I've been managing and expanding the Streets Department's use of Cityworks AMS for asset and work management, producing web GIS applications, and helping design Streets business processes.
