During my time as a Scaffolding Contracts Manager with this company I managed multiple scaffolding programmes for Axis Europe PLC working alongside Peabody, Hyde Housing and Westminster City Council, geographically spread across E8, N16 and W10 postcodes and also Care and Support properties encompassing South East and North East London. This scaffolding package was worth approx. £6 million. When I started as Contract Manager, the company solely worked in W10 and E8. Due to good management and networking I was able to increase the companies order significantly in those locations as well as forming relationships and receiving orders from other divisions in other geographic locations which drastically increased revenue. Alongside managing Axis scaffold projects, I also generated over £350k of new business with other Main Contractors. I managed this business from the ground up.Responsibilities included keeping record of days and overtime accumulated by operatives, updating an automated wages excel spreadsheet which I composed, allocating operatives to site, scheduling all programmed and planned works, estimating and quoting, follow ups and negotiation, payment requests (submitting and tracking), hand overs, scaffold inspection on TG20:13 compliant scaffolds, implementing health and safety policies and procedures on site in accordance with SG4:15, liaising with scaffold supervisors ensuring policies and procedures were being adhered to, speaking regularly with operatives, site and contract managers to ensure all works were being carried out compliantly, safely, timely and within budget, closely working with Liaison Officers and building rapport with residents.Experienced in the day to day running of the business, operationally, logistically and financially, Pre Starts, RAMS, Technical Drawings, TG20 & SG4 guidelines, toolbox talks, basic inspection, handovers, conversing at all levels, excellent written and verbal communication skills, emails, Microsoft office

Mercer Scaffolding first caught my attention due to their large presence on social media. The scale and complexity of some of the work I noticed interested me and I knew that I would be able to gain valuable industry experience. I was part of a team which helped to construct one of their flagship temporary roofs in Covent Garden which featured in ScaffMag.Another highlight was being part of a team who built a complex temporary roof in Poland St London. The beam work and dolly towers which the front elevation of the scaffold was supported by was extremely detailed and intricate, the back elevation and return was suspended on Gallo brackets and taken up approx. 30m. This undoubtedly was the most interesting, challenging job of my career and really furthered my understanding and technical capabilities.I was also heavily involved in projects for the social housing sector, erecting scaffold for United living, Peabody and Lake House on projects of a large scale. I worked directly under a supervisor for the Pollards Hill Mitcham regeneration program and helped to implement health and safety policies and procedures whilst helping to maintain the highest quality of work and professionalism with the client.

M. Crowe scaffolding covers a broad spectrum of scaffolding, from private household, large refurbishments to commercial buildings. I started as a labourer with M. Crowe and progressed to a Part 1 Scaffolder. Highlights included erecting a temporary roof above the bell tower at Eton College Cathedral and various work in the 02 Arena. A fantastic small business where I gained valuable and practical industry experience

I started with Simply Scaffolding working in the yard for the first year of my career. Duties included servicing fittings, painting tube, loading and unloading lorries. After a year I progressed and was given the opportunity and guidance to become a laborer. Simply Scaffolding specialized mostly in street work i.e. scaffold for painters and small building companies. It was fast paced and a great insight and introduction to scaffolding. I gained a great understanding of basing out in tricky circumstances and was taught how to read a scaffold in terms of what the scaffolders needed to erect at an optimal pace. Simply Scaffolding was an eye opener to the world of scaffolding and gave me an abundance of good and bad lessons and priceless experience.
