I am incredibly proud to introduce Alternative Pathways Education, which is the culmination of many years spent working in education; both mainstream and alternative learning provision.After 15 years in teaching and leadership roles in education, culminating in five years spent leading a highly successful full-time Alternative Learning Provision, myself and a fantastic colleague and friend realised it was time to take the leap and establish our own provision; something that is true to our own beliefs and approach to education and working with children and young people.It is easy for schools or providers to say they are trauma-informed, but we I know that we live up to the label. We offer bespoke education packages that meet the needs of every individual, and also partner with an established therapeutic organisation (www.exar-wellbeing.org.uk), led by BACP accredited therapists to ensure all children and young people have access to the support they need, ensuring a truly holistic approach to our work. We work with young people, their family and the community to establish a provision that works for them; whatever it looks like.We also use our 30+ years of experience in education, youth work, trauma-informed settings and safeguarding to offer a wide range of training and consultancy opportunities.None of this is easy but it’s certainly worthwhile and I’m excited to continue a journey, with our very own school the next target in the next 2 years!
