The University’s Information Technology Services Department sourced a mobile signal booster solution (Cel-Fi) to be rolled out into eight of their St Lucia, Herston and Long Pocket campus buildings which were experiencing poor mobile signal coverage. I was engaged as Project Officer to manage the “Mobile Coverage Improvement Project (MCIP)” to ensure the smooth delivery of the solution, whilst minimising disruption to client business as usual operations within the target buildings.Responsibilities• The creation of implementation scope of works, schedules, technical documentation and Visio diagrams • Creation of tender documents for external contractors as well as the evaluation of tender responses and the awarding of contracts• Signal analysis of candidate buildings to determine appropriate location of antenna, network and coverage units, as well as optimal cabling routes for the solution• Scheduling site attendance for contractors, ensuring appropriate quality of work delivered, onsite safety standards and minimal client BAU disruption.• Effect internal/external stakeholder engagement and negotiation• Creation and maintenance of the MCIP SharePoint project page to provide real-time project status for all internal stakeholders.• Budget management and allocation through to completion of MCIPAchievements • The $360,000.00 solution was delivered well in advance of the projected time frame and came in well under budget. As such, we were able to incorporate the Cel-Fi solution into 3 additional buildings, which had initially be ruled out in the original project scope, due to budget and time constraints.
