Served on the health system Board, and chaired the Finance Committee to ensure alignment of hospital and physician strategies and priorities. Developed an outpatient strategic plan incorporating service line growth using 5- and 10-year models. High level involvement with the formation of a new affiliation with LCMC.

Secured enterprise-wide agreements with some of the largest health systems in the country. Oversaw provider recruitments and contract negotiations, adding over 30 physicians and mid-level practitioners. Company acquired by Amwell in 2018.

Founded in 1878, Los Angeles County USC (LAC+USC) Medical Center is one of the nation's largest academic institutions with 600 beds and has been the primary facility of the University of Southern California School of Medicine since 1885. With over 2,000 providers on staff, our hospital provides the full spectrum of care, from primary, preventive, and urgent care to Level I trauma services, a burn center, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Services also include a separate 76-bed licensed psychiatric hospital. Physician-Hospital Consortium between Children’s Hospital of Orange County and a pediatric network of over 1,000 primary and specialty physicians accountable to over 114,000 Medi-Cal and Healthy Families children and young adults. Accountable to two boards—CHOC Physicians Network and the joint Hospital-Physician Alliance Advisory. Budget responsibility of $63M. Conceptualize the development of an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) for the California Children’s Services (CCS) Program—the most vulnerable children in the state—under an 1115 Waiver. The proposal was successful in being selected as one of 5 State pilots.

$89 Million budget responsibility. Oversee operations including financing, care coordination, utilization management, care management, benefit scope, network development, contract negotiations, and policy as it relates to local, State, and Federal regulations. Collaborate with physician groups, hospitals, community clinics, their respective associations, and healthcare stakeholder groups to provide timely access to quality and coordinated care for the underserved and uninsured in the County. The network includes 23 hospitals, 247 Patient-Centered Medical Homes, and over 3,000 specialty physicians.Major accomplishments include creating the infrastructure to be able to draw down $59 Million of additional Federal revenue through an 1115 Waiver that began in September 2007; the successful creation of a Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care that today consists of 247 Medical Homes where 97% of patients are assigned within a 5-mile radius of their physician’s office; an E.R. diversion program using a web-based electronic health record system connecting over 300 E.R. physicians to the entire medical home network and resulting in a 52% decrease in future ER visits and a 13% increase in the use of the Medical Home; a PTMPM reduction in E.R. visits by 48%, inpatient days by 47%, outpatient hospital visits by 15%, and an increase in Medical Home visits by 149% from 2007 to 2010; development of a quality improvement program that rewards Medical Home providers for proactive preventive care using HEDIS measures and chronic disease management grounded on evidence-based medicine. Showcased in Government Health IT Magazine and awarded by InformationWeek 500 in 2010 as one of the top innovative local government programs in the nation for “business technology vision, innovation, and execution.” Awarded by the California State Association of Counties in 2010 for creating a “virtually integrated delivery system”.

Pediatric medical group offering both primary and preventive services in 3 office locations in Orange County as well as hospitalist and intensivist services at 17 hospitals between LA, Orange, and Riverside Counties.• Reported to the senior physician partner/owner of the medical group with 4 direct reports;• Accountable for a $3M budget managing personnel, office, and revenue cycle operations;• Accomplishments:o Increased net profit by 23% through the expansion of hospital-based contracts and provider recruitments;o Implemented incentive-based contracts with physicians;o Negotiated payer agreements resulting in increased contracted rates as high as 50%.

Managed 5 offices and 35 FTEs that included physicians, medical assistants, and billers. Major accomplishments included increased revenue by 49% through new business lines and streamlined revenue cycle management; Y2K upgrade to a new practice management system throughout all offices; expanded market share from 4 to 5 office locations in the first two years; and grew the practice by 3 physicians.
