LOGISTICS MANAGER: Dec. 2015 – PresentQuest Nutrition is a leading manufacturer of protein bars, protein powders, and other nutritional food supplements. Situated at one of three southern California warehouses, responsible for receipt and safe-housing of the raw material food ingredients and packaging; as well as assuring the other two local warehouses are supplied respectively with ingredients for manufacturing or with finished goods for order fulfilment. Accomplishments include:● Instituted new SOPs for the Raw Materials and Staging warehouses● Implemented 8 KPIs to track warehouse performance and incentivize employees● Improved inventory accuracy to 98.8% across two warehouse locations with respectively 180,000 and 25,000 sq. ft. and over 5000 pallet positions● Reduced head count from 57 to 47 across four shifts (two shifts per warehouse) while improving performance and support.

Responsible for supervising all Warehouse and Inventory Control functions, including but not limited to global logistics, domestic LTL, plant inventory control, PO and WIP receipts and the cycle count program. Accomplishments include:● Developed and executed an Export Compliance program to assure that all regulations were followed and that the company’s costs and risks were minimized.● Played key role in the successful implementation and training of the new ERP program (Syteline by INFOR – MAPICS type). Completed and provided full architecture for all of inventory shipping module while a key participant in the data migration team.● Developed and instituted the company cycle count program leading to an 80% improvement in the year end physical inventory variance.● Created the Materials department’s SOP’s and work instructions required for the successful process of gaining ISO 9000 certification. ● Served as liaison between the materials department and engineering regarding BOM and routing corrections, between finance for inventory and costing discrepancies, and worked with sales to ensure that the customers’ requirements were being satisfied.

Supervised and performed procurement activities for all aspects of this complex and dynamic manufacturing facility. Identified, evaluated and qualified new suppliers for a wide range of comodities; including, tunable laser diodes, optical lenses and mirrors, electrical components and circuit board assemblies, custom machined parts, wire harnesses and specialty gases and chemicals. Negotiated purchase agreements, contracts and programs for company benefit, cost savings, and efficiency improvements.

We’ve Gone Bananas! Fresh Produce - Upland, CAOwner/Manager: Jan. 2005 – Aug. 2006During this time, my entrepreneurial spirit took hold of me, so my wife and I opened our own Juice Bar / Produce Market in our hometown of Upland, CA. We identified what we viewed as a need for healthy food and juice alternatives locally, and embarked on a plan to build this business to satisfy a need. We found a location and renovated an old restaurant into a produce store with a juice bar in the back with healthy snack alternatives. We sourced the produce locally and from the LA market and surrounding areas. It was not meant to be and for various reasons, the business only lasted a year and a half. Although a very trying time and tough lesson, the experience and lessons learned were invaluable and memories will be treasured for a lifetime.
