Logistics & Transportation Software Solutions - Project Management - Business Analysis & Design - Software Evaluation & Selection - Financial Justification - Implementation Support

As part of the Information Services Team, responsible for the business analysis and support side of Tropical Shipping’s in-house software development activities. Major areas of focus included project management, development of business and functional requirements, business rules, operational process analysis and re-engineering, evaluation of commercial software solutions, integration with existing systems, close partnering with developer team on software design and code implementation, systems integration and certification testing, user training and acceptance testing, implementation, and production support. Managed a staff of seven professionals.

As part of the Operations Team reporting to the VP of Operations, had direct responsibility for Tropical’s Corporate Equipment Management and Central Procurement departments. With a total staff of nine (four Equipment Management, five Purchasing), managed Tropical’s freight equipment (approx. 15,000 shipping containers, chassis & gensets), including equipment forecasting to meet seasonal needs, capital equipment justification and acquisition, management of overdue equipment and turn time forecasting, management of foreign equipment (interline carriers, per diems, etc.) and leased equipment (on-hires/off-hires, operating and capital leases). Managed the purchasing of all non-marine goods and services consumed by the organization including spare parts inventory, fuel management, operational materials, office forms, equipment, and supplies.Was appointed Project Director for all inland transportation, warehousing and equipment management functions associated with Tropical’s efforts to replace their legacy core logistics and billing system.

As part of the Finance team reporting to the CFO, responsible for Tropical’s day-to-day accounting operations including accounting controls, monthly closings, financial reporting, managerial reporting and business support, cash management, corporate taxation, and Risk Management. Managed a staff of approximately eighteen.

Participated in a six-month career development opportunity to gain island sales and operational experience. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, directly managed all commercial and operational activities for Tropical’s Freeport, Grand Bahamas business location. Responsibilities included vessel operations & stevedoring (four sailings per week), local trucking, LCL warehouse management, import/export documentation and traffic. Managed a staff of eight.

As part of the Finance team reporting to the CFO, responsible for Tropical’s managerial accounting, budgeting, financial planning, reporting, business support, corporate taxation, and legal services activities. Managed a staff of six.

As part of the Finance team reporting to the Controller, responsible for Tropical’s day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, & GL). Responsibilities included monthly closings, financial reporting, and corporate taxation. Managed a staff of twelve.

As part of the Finance team reporting to the Controller, responsible for Tropical’s corporate tax and regulatory compliance and planning activities. Managed a staff of two.

Specializing in the privately owned and emerging business area provided a full range of accounting and tax services including preparation of financial statements, corporate and executive tax planning, counseling clients on accounting and tax problems, preparing and reviewing returns.

Worked on both the audit and tax staffs providing auditing and tax services to corporate and non-profit organizations.
