I applied my Deliveroo experience to establish the logistics of my wages and taking payments from the customers, primarily students in Hyde Park. Since then, I have spent my evenings from Thursday through Sunday delivering burgers by bicycle. As a service, it remains unpolished in comparison to Deliveroo, however, it is so much more rewarding to hold a position of responsibility within the Chez Joel team, a small independent business. In 2019, I worked for the summer helping George (of Dovetail Joinery) build a home extension on his own house, I was involved throughout the process, from digging/pouring foundations to nailing the roofing tiles. George is a cabinet maker by trade, but I was inspired by his ability to apply his knowledge of manufacturing/assembly techniques to the scale of a house.
