When I left Rockport to start my own public relations agency, the CEO decided to make Rockport Trade Systems my first client. She was happy with my work at the time, and probably even happier when she sold the company for $ 103 million.

I was the strategic and day-to-day lead for a number of our high-tech clients. I worked with a major Federal Contractor and a number of software companies. I took pride in getting national and sometime global coverage for our clients with placements in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week and a variety of high profile magazines and trade publications. On a flight from Atlanta, GA to Columbia, SC, I met the "then" governor of South Carolina and talked him into playing a practical joke on my boss. When we exited the plan, the Government went up to my boss, Rita, and said, "My friend Dan tells me that you just purchased a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle for your husband on his birthday!" Of course, I had never met the Governor before, but I really enjoyed the look on Rita and Sandy's faces when he walked up to them and said that!
