After starting as a Police Officer, in 2009, I’ve had the opportunity to experience multiple ‘careers within a career’. With each stage, many lessons have been learned and I’ve been honoured to have tremendous co-workers, who have taught and demonstrated how to be successful in this profession. I am truly one of the lucky ones.Some of the primary roles I’ve filled include: Patrol (multiple divisions), BEATS (entertainment zone foot patrol), and Gang Suppression. I currently serve as a full time member of the Tactical Team as an Operator (with specialty disciplines in: Chemical Agents and Impact Weapons, Vehicle Tactics, Method of Entry, Technology Robotics) and Sniper. Other secondary roles include: Training, Community Engagement, Research, Intelligence and Surveillance. My most recent position has unique challenges and opportunities for growth; however, throughout each stage of my career, I have gathered skills that round-out my experience.Prior to working as a Police Officer, I was a tradesmen (welder) as well as a student at the University of Concordia Edmonton. Having a background in skilled trades as well as academics has been a benefit. Although, they may not be directly related, the extra life experience has assisted my development.Future plans include: completion of at least 25 years of service as a Law Enforcement Officer.
