As a Fire Safety Specialist I perform all functions as required of a firefighter. In addition, I perform maintenance on equipment, fire apparatus, and facilities. I participate in related training activities as a firefighter and instructor. I provide work direction for on-call firefighters in relation to fire apparatus, equipment, facilities, and fire scenes. I perform maintenance and training on respiratory protection equipment as a certified SCBA technician. I am responsible for implementation and deployment of new equipment, programs, and related standard operating procedures. I present a positive, constructive image and attitude in the performance of all duties. I establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public, city staff, fire personnel, and other agencies.

As a paid-on-call firefighter I responded to emergency and non-emergency incidents as assigned as a firefighter while performing all physical duties normally expected of a firefighter. I operated equipment, which includes but is not limited to hand tools, power tools, light and heavy equipment, fire pumps, aerial ladders, and boats. I used critical thinking skills to solve concrete problems and effectively provide instruction to groups of varying sizes and ages. I mentored new team members through their initial entry experiences and beyond. I was responsible for staying current on firefighting and fire protection textbooks, apparatus and equipment service manuals, first responder medical textbooks, and hazardous materials emergency response textbooks. I participated in training and drills to remain proficient in firefighting operations.

As an HFC System Analyst/Network Dispatcher Lead I provided training and leadership support to dispatchers and technician staff. I isolated problems by correlating information from network surveillance equipment. I used Trouble Ticketing System to accurately document problems, including diagnostic results and multiple product correlation. I escalated problems that are not resolved within prescribed parameters. I organized and forecasted daily network activities through scheduling, routing and re-prioritizing of demand maintenance network staff. I interfaced with dispatchers, technical support personnel and field technicians effectively. I communicated with preventative maintenance technicians to update logs and other organizations of progress.

As a Forward Communications Sergeant I operated and maintained network-switching systems including initializing loading databases as well as sitcom based radio systems. I operated single and multiple channel satellite radio sets both garrison and deployed environments. I conducted Airborne operations. I was responsible for training and supervising subordinates. I ensured the readiness of all multiple subscriber equipment in the battalion inventory. I inspected and certified all hazardous material to be loaded for transportation via air, rail, road or ship. I was responsible for safeguarding, account and supply COMSEC material for and in the interest of national security.
