Conduct testing and evaluations for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Center of Excellence Task A4: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAS) Ground Collision Severity Evaluation. The results of this research was provided to FAA who used this information to evaluate UAS safety procedures. Assisted in the design, creation and modification of UAS impact testing equipment. Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CRESiS) Research Assistant with a focus on Fiberglass Composite Fabrication. Work consisted of Design, fabrication, maintenance, and modification of Composite and Aluminum parts and specialized part creation tools for CRESiS. Primary work revolved around the creation of multiple 16 foot ice penetrating RADAR arrays that will be attached to the underside of aircraft. These arrays are currently in the field being tested and evaluated under real-world conditions. Other skills used in this position include the creation and modification of high density foam and metal tools used to shape composite parts.Duties:• Design, fabrication, maintenance, and modification of Composite and Aluminum parts• Creation of specialized tools and molds for CRESiS (Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets)• Primary work revolved around the creation of multiple 16 foot ice penetrating RADAR arrays that attaches to the underside of aircraft.
