Dan is the founder, CEO and Chief Sales Officer at OpenWallet, a company making attorneys affordable and accessible to everyone. OpenWallet provides a disruptive solution to the problem of consumer legal fees by blending B2B lending with a turnkey payment program for consumers, making it possible for attorneys to grow their practices and bottom lines by helping clients who otherwise couldn’t afford to hire them.Dan is a compulsive and prolific innovator, constantly searching for better solutions to the problems that he encounters. He is driven by the principle of doing well by doing good, and leads from a well-defined corporate mission and set of corporate values that reflect his individual principles.Prior to founding OpenWallet, Dan had a 23-year legal career working with troubled companies. Dan became a nationally recognized corporate restructuring, business bankruptcy and commercial litigation attorney. He holds an AV-Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been listed in Southwest Super Lawyers® and Best Lawyers in America®. In 2017, Dan's work with two troubled hospitals was recognized with the "Turnaround of the Year” award for middle-market companies from the Turnaround Management Association, the largest international professional organization focusing on troubled businesses, and by M&A Advisor as the national "Healthcare Transaction of the Year." Dan's work had previously been recognized as TMA's Arizona "Turnaround of the Year" in 2007, and he was a finalist for that award again in 2013.Dan is an honors graduate of the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and was a member of the Utah Law Review. After graduating, he clerked for the Hon. Dee V. Benson of the U.S. District Court for Utah. Prior to founding his own firms, Dan practiced with regional, national and international firms such as Snell & Wilmer, Squire Sanders, Gallagher & Kennedy and Shughart Thomson & Kilroy. Dan also is an adjunct professor of law.Dan's business experience includes serving as a founder and principal of a real estate investment company; as president, CEO and director of a wholesale company; as general manager of a multi-location retail company; and as founding program manager of a community mediation service. He is a regular speaker and leadership coach.Dan and his wife Julie married in 1988, and he is the father of four, fantastic, grown-up kids and is a grandfather. He spends his free time golfing, skiing, cooking and inventing new cocktails.
